Coriandre by Diptyque

Whenever I find myself in front of Diptyque candles, I feel a bit lost. Honestly, they have so many that I always go smell a couple of them and I move on. But, one day I was at Liberty and a really nice Italian assistant introduced me to some hidden treasures. Coriander is not one of those notes I would smell first, but it happened to be one of my favorites!  It is nothing close to a latin-american dish (whenever I smell coriander it reminds me of Costarican ''Gallo Pinto''), but it is actually a great room scent for spring days. This candle has got all the freshness of coriander mixed with peppery and green notes. It smells classy, clean and not overwhelming. It is one of those smells that makes your room smell great without smelling like a pout-pourri.
Coriandre is definetly a keeper!

Montblanc inks

How cool are Montblanc's inks? To be honest, I had no idea they did inks as well, but, yes, they do and in their classy jaw-dropping way! I would love to follow a calligraphy class and just experiment with different shades of blacks, blues and browns! These are such details that do make a big difference on a gentleman's desk... not there yet, but I can start working on it.

You can buy them online for 17$

The republic of the moon, Bargehouse, OXO Tower

Leonid Tishkov, Private Moon

I don't have many words for this exhibition other than: one of the most interesting and inspiring exhibitions I have seen in the last year. All installations are intelligent, well explained and exposed. Nothing fancy (finally), but art. Loved most of the projects, loved the descriptions and the graphics and people are really nice (which is harder and harder to find). Please, if you are around London, have a walk on the Southbank and sneak in this nice exhibition, which last but not least, is admission free.

Replica by Maison Martin Margiela at SHOWstudio

Replica's perfumes by Maison Martin Margiela are created by precise moments of the designer's life. The first releases, Beach Walk, Flower Market and Funfair Evening, were then followed by Jazz Club, Lazy Sunday Morning and Promenade in the Garderns. The French fashion brand presents in collaboration with SHOWstudio, 19 Motcomb St. London, their perfumes with a little exhibit focused on memories. 21 artists have been asked to represent one perfumes and the results are really fascinating.

Sarah Straussberg

Bella Ring (multiple)

London based jewelry designer Sarah Straussberg presented her creations at Dazzle London 2013 at OXO Tower Wharf. I really liked her pieces which bring to mind Constantin Brancusi sculptures. Subtle, refined and elegant little sculptures.

Walter Sickert - Queen's Road Station, Bayswater

Walter Sickert, Queen's Road Station, Bayswater, Oil on canvas, Around 1916

Walter Sickert (1860-1942) was the main exponent of the Camden Town Artist, a post-impressionist movement which mostly showed everyday urban scenes. The Queen's Road Station (now Bayswater) was one of the first tube stops and it the painting it is possible to see the first sample, diamond shaped, Underground logo. Still, super modern.
Cool discover!

Vuarnet Ski Goggles: Sporty with style

Vuarnet is a French Eyewear company founded by the skier Jean Vuarnet, Gold Olympic medal in 1960 in the men's downhill, the first medal won on metal skis. That same year, Roger Pouilloux asked Vuarnet to collaborate in founding the legendary Vuarnet Eyewear company.
I found a really cool vintage Vuarnet in a shop in London and I was curious to know a little bit more about this company. I really appreciate some iconic models, but I particularly liked these ski goggles. They have a lovely retro style with an additional contemporary verve which makes them absolutely unique, chic and cool in a subtle way. I am probably a bit nostalgic, but I love the logo. It might need a little refresh, but ... less is more and I absolutely love it! It also reminds me of the French National Ski Team by Moncler in the early '70.

L'Eau d'Hiver by Jean-Claude Ellena - Frederic Malle

L'Eau d'Hiver (Winter water) by Jean-Claude Ellena for Frederic Malle is a lovely clean, transparent, light, warm floral perfume. The heliotrope note is quite evident and it blows after a slightly citrusy opening which also welcomes the iris and the honey notes. On my skin it turns slightly musky and it seemed to be refreshed by a minty note. This is the kind of perfume that I would spray right after a relaxing shower or in a warm summery day. Every perfume recalls an image or an artist, but I am finding it quite hard this time. In my mind there are watery light colors, an abstract painting or a photography. The closest I can think of is a Rudolf Stingel painting.
